24 years ago today

...my favorite child arrived here on earth. Happy, happy birthday, baby. Nothing will ever surpass the moment when I first saw her and held her in my arms. I can't believe it's been 24 years. I feel like I was 24 just yesterday. Or last week. It's been an amazing adventure so far.

This may be my most favorite photo of the two of us together. She was about 7 months old and I had just turned 22. Carlos and I had space in an old schoolhouse converted into artist studios. I printed my intaglios nearly everyday with her in that backpack, singing to me and peeking over my shoulder to see the colors I was rolling out on the table.

I used the paper that I block-printed yesterday to wrap her presents. The cupcakes just came out of the oven and are awaiting frosting and decorating. Tonight we celebrate!

Oh I love that picture of you two. And my Hannah is 22 today...the age you were when you had Sam!

We had our family when we were young, too. How else could we keep up with them???

Children are such a blessing, eh?

I had a backpack just like that when my now 28 year old was a baby. My hairdresser always laughed at how bad my hair looked in the back because my daughter played with it constantly.

Happy birthday to Hannah too! An auspicious day it was/is!!

Actually I was 21 when I had her - don't you feel like we grew up together, with our kids, since we started young? And the energy thing is a definite yes, I can't imagine running around after a little one now...

Susan, mine used to reach around and yank on my dangly earrings!

I had that same backpack too! Exactly the same. The picture is adorable--both of you. Happy birthday to Sam and to you. I tell me kids I love to celebrate their birthdays, because I am celebrating two of the happiest days of my life, so I think birthdays belong to the parents too.

Ya, we had the same backpack, too. It lasted through all four kids. I wonder where it is now...

visiting from facebook. enjoyed this photo. reminded me of my photo with birth of second daughter. i thought i was so old then (25 years ago) but now I look back and marvel at what it must have been like to be wrinkle free.

LOVE LOVE LOVE that photo. You have hardly aged -maybe you should write a book about youthful living. :)
